Discover the culture and beauty of the region
Allegroitalia Ostuni Agritrulli is surrounded by natural, architectural, and artistic wonders that make these areas some of the most interesting in Italy. In addition to the white city of Ostuni, a few kilometers from the property, the entire area of the Valle d’Itria and the Murge is dotted with incredibly interesting sites visited every year by thousands of visitors. For this reason, the area is full of local organizations and associations, born with the aim of preserving the natural, artistic, and cultural heritage of the area.
Ecomuseum of the Valle d’Itria:
The Ecomuseum Association of the Valle d’Itria aims to document, recover, testify, and enhance the territory of the Valle d’Itria, from the Adriatic to the Murgia. A real museum, distributed throughout the territory, which is divided between material and immaterial culture, whose exhibition pieces are not only trulli, casedde, farms, tratturi, but also and above all the traditions, activities, life and work practices, and typical local products that make the Valle a unique place in the world.
Regional Park of the Coastal Dunes:
Extending over an area of 1,110 hectares in the areas of Ostuni and Fasano, the Regional Natural Park of Coastal Dunes from Torre Canne to Torre San Leonardo encompasses all the souls of the territory: moving from the sea to the hinterland, you will find the beach, dunes, the hinterland wetland, fossil dunes, ravines, and ancient olive groves. In the protected area, there are numerous natural habitats, some of which are at risk of disappearing from the EU territory and therefore require special attention.
The Park was established by Regional Law No. 31 of October 27, 2006, with the aim of preserving and recovering the habitats and animal and plant species.
Grotte di Castellana (Castellana Caves):
Looking for adventure and exploration? Discover the Grotte di Castellana, a complex of underground caves of karst origin, among the most evocative and visited in Italy. The visit to the caves, which winds along a 3 km route to a depth of 70 meters (the complex reaches a maximum depth of 122 meters underground), will leave you absolutely breathless: caves with evocative names, abysses, stalactites and stalagmites with stunning colors will accompany you on the journey to the final destination: the Grotta Bianca (White Cave), whose alabaster walls have earned it the title of the most dazzling cave in the world.
National Archaeological Museum of Taranto:
The National Archaeological Museum of Taranto, established in 1887, is located in the Convent of S. Pasquale, or the Alcantarini friars. The guided tour will introduce you to the history of Taranto and its territory from Prehistory to the Early Middle Ages through its most famous artifacts. From the Marble Head of Heracles to the Gold of Taranto, from the rooms dedicated to the ancient splendors of the Greek and Roman city to the collection of paintings by Bishop Ricciardi, every space and object in this complex is imbued with art and culture, immersing you in a world of ancient reminiscences and lost sensations.
Museum Rates:
Full ticket: €8.00
Reduced ticket: €4.00
Free admission up to 18 years old
€2.00 admission for young people aged 18 to 25.
Free admission for everyone on the first Sunday of each month

Puglia Museum Hub:
Another source we refer you to for choosing which destinations to visit during your stay in Puglia is the Puglia Museum Hub website, which coordinates and promotes state museums at the regional level, fostering collaboration with other territorial realities to improve the quality of services. Among the realities included in the association are the National Archaeological Museum of Altamura, the Archaeological Park of Monte Sannace, the famous Swabian Castle of Trani, and many others.
National Museum “Giuseppe Andreassi” Archaeological Park of Egnazia:
A few kilometers from Allegroitalia Ostuni Agritrulli, the National Museum “Giuseppe Andreassi” Archaeological Park of Egnazia traces the thirty centuries of history of the important settlement, from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages.
The exhibition path is divided into 7 sections and tells the events that characterized the archaeological research and the historical evolution of the site until the abandonment of the city. The exhibits and images illustrate the peculiarities that characterized the first settlement of huts in the Bronze Age, the influence of Iapigian and Messapian culture, the Roman and Early Christian phase, with the city becoming a bishopric. The last section collects testimonies related to the Lombard presence and the last traces of the area’s occupation.
Castel del Monte:
A symbol of harmonious blending of cultural elements from northern Europe, the Muslim world, and classical antiquity, Castel del Monte is a unique masterpiece of medieval architecture, on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1996.
The Castle, dating back to the 13th century, was commissioned by Frederick II of Swabia, the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire, and is known worldwide for its octagonal shape, with eight limestone towers at its corners.
What makes this place even more suggestive and has contributed to its worldwide fame is the aura of mystery that surrounds it: the term “castrum” indeed directly refers to a defensive function, but the presence of some “accessory” structures and the sophistication of the sculptural repertoire have also suggested a residential and representative role.
Bosco delle Pianelle:
Discover the landscape, flora, and fauna of one of the last great forests in Puglia, the Oriented Regional Natural Reserve of Bosco Pianelle.
Among the activities that can be carried out in this natural oasis are hikes, cycle trekking, birdwatching, but also more relaxing experiences such as picnics and barbecues in dedicated areas. The protected area, waiting to be discovered, unfolds along 21 routes and 15 kilometers of marked and freely accessible paths.
LIPU Gravina di Laterza Oasis:
“Nature does nothing in vain.” Aristotle
The LIPU Gravina di Laterza Oasis was born in June 1999, thanks to a collaboration agreement signed by the Province of Taranto, the Municipality of Laterza, and LIPU, to protect and enhance the extraordinary natural heritage present in the area.
Discover typical specimens of local flora and fauna, such as the Apennine Frog, a small toad with a characteristic brownish color; the Greater Broomrape, a herbaceous plant that blooms from March to August; the Shrike, a small bird with incredible hunting skills.
The Oasis is open all year round from Thursday to Sunday, and to organize a visit, just send an email to oasi.gravinadilaterza@lipu.it.
