“Ponte alla luna” (“Bridge to the Moon”) owes its name to Rocco Petrone, engineer of Nasa, responsible for the Apollo 11 mission that on July 20, 1969 brought the first man to the moon.
The whole plant is an unusual intertwining of railway tracks and paths.
A nature trail that develops on the shores of “Fosso Arenazzo” and that ends at the foot of the charming old town.
“Two bridges” dominate the ravine, really close to the town.
The first is long 95 meters and suspended at about 70 meters in height.
The second is a single span of 300 meters and suspended at 120 meters in height.
Behind the village there is a deer reserve and a monumental beech wood called “La Costara”.
It is intertwined with railways and two nature trails: the path of legality, dedicated to Mimmo Beneventano (native of this place) victim of the Camorra, and the Frassati path that winds along a route of naturalistic and geological interest. All this is “Ponte alla Luna” of Sasso di Castalda. An unmissable event, suspended between heaven and earth.

Recognized in 1998 UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Certosa di San Lorenzo, also known as the Certosa di Padula, is certainly one of the most beautiful places in the province of Salerno.
The wonderful Certosa di San Lorenzo makes the Municipality of Padula the main destination of religious tourism in Campania and is one of the most evocative monuments of the Italian artistic heritage.
The architectural style is predominantly baroque, in fact there are very few surviving traces of the 14th century. The complex has about 350 rooms and occupies an area of 51.500 m² of which 15.000 are committed only by the cloister, the largest in the world. The Certosa di San Lorenzo, thanks to its vast extension, is second only to the Certosa of Grenoble in France.
The structure of the charterhouse follows the rule of Certosini, that preaches work and contemplation. Precisely for this reason in the Charterhouse there are different places for these activities: the cloister, the library, where you can still admire the floor made from Vietri ceramic tiles, the Chapel decorated with precious marbles, the large kitchen, the great wine cellars, the laundries and the surrounding fields where the fruits of the earth were grown for the sustenance of the monks.
